PodBites Member Applications

"PodBites" is a podcast-style initiative designed to provide a fresh and engaging way for medical students to learn on the go, delivering high-yield medical concepts by comparing diseases, breaking down their symptoms, causes, diagnostics, and treatments in a format that is informative, fun, and easy to follow.

🎙️ The process of creating an episode goes as follows:
Script writing (Content Managers) → Script refining (Voice actors) → Reviewing the voice actor's final script (Content Managers) → Mock recording session (Voice actors) → Voice Recording Session → Editing → Uploading

As a PodBites team member, you will be part of a team of contributors who help bring each episode to life. You will not be responsible for every step of the process; instead, you will be assigned a specific task for each episode. The possible roles include:

  • Initial Script Writing: Gathering the required information on a chosen clinical topic into a detailed prompt to send to ChatGPT, following along with the slides and ensuring all main points are included. From this, an "Initial AI Script" will be developed and used as a foundation for the Voice Actors to adjust and make their own.
  • Attending Mock Sessions & Script Reviewing: Reviewing and actively listening to the Voice Actor and Host's delivery of their [refined] script, ensuring they use clear language, maintain a proper dialogue format, and flow smoothly so that the host keeps it engaging while the VA delivers the main medical content.
  • Recording Management: Overseeing the technical setup and smooth execution of the recording session.
  • Recording Supervision: Monitoring the recording to ensure the host and VAs follow the script, maintain a natural and clear delivery, and avoid monotone presentation.
  • Audio Editing: Enhancing the raw recording by cutting unnecessary parts, improving clarity, and adding sound effects or background elements to maximize engagement.
  • Design: Design visuals on Canva related to the specific episode topic (e.g., medical concepts, analogies, infographics).
  • Coverage: Video coverage of recording sessions for the Instagram stories (behind the scenes, promotion).

Members in our team are assigned specific tasks according to their preferences and the team's needs for each cycle. In the form, you can select the tasks you are most interested in, but keep in mind that you may be assigned to different tasks depending on the cycle's requirements.
